About Dim Notes
Dim Notes is a private notes app — encrypted on your device, free of cloud AI, and built to stay private.
It's made by Dim Notes LLC, an independent company. Not part of a bigger one, and not for sale.
Why this exists
Most notes apps are racing to add cloud AI. Most privacy apps get bought by larger companies that may not share their original priorities. Most notes apps have grown into workspaces with templates, blocks, and databases.
Dim Notes is the alternative to all three — a private notebook, kept simple, that won't be quietly turned into something else.
What this won't become
These commitments shape what gets built — and what doesn't.
No cloud AI
Never sent to a cloud model or used to train one. Any AI runs entirely on your device.
No ad tracking
No ads, nothing that reads your notes, no data sold. Privacy is the premise, not a feature.
No bloat
Folders, tags, search, rich text. No templates, blocks, or databases. Anything we add runs on your device and never sees your notes unencrypted.
How this stays honest
The security page documents the encryption design. It includes what we protect against, what we don't, and acknowledged limitations — the most important document on this site for verifying the privacy claims are real.
If anything on this page ever stops being true — cloud AI gets added, or the product is sold — that change will be announced openly, with users given the chance to export their notes and leave.
Who builds Dim Notes
Dim Notes is built and operated by Dim Notes LLC, an independent company registered in Delaware, USA.
